Infographic Series

How do we make advanced concepts approachable and exciting?

Working with the international grant-giving foundation, QFI, I worked to build monthly infographics that would highlight elements of Arabic language and Arab culture .

Role: Creative Lead | Timeline: 1 Year | Tools: Indesign, Illustrator

Project Overview

Opportunity

According to analytics, the most successful social media posts were graphics the organization shared. This project focused on creating organic content that would position QFI as a global thought-leader.

Process

Each infographic was planned over a 45 day sprint period. The first 30 days would be research and ideation followed by two weeks of an iterative design process. We kept a backlog of concepts to always choose from.

Results

These infographics have been translated into three languages and shared thousands of times on social media. In 2018, 18x24 in posters were printed and distributed to classrooms throughout the world.

Workflow

An initial (and ultimately scrapped) concept to highlight the overlap between Arabic and Spanish words.

Concept Creation

Content creation was key to always having a backlog of infographic concepts to begin researching. In-depth research would only start once the concept was vetted both by internal and external stakeholders.

Research

Once the concept was approved, our team began doing in-depth research into the initial “story” we wanted to be told through the infographic. This would require reviewing historic and academic sources, then synthesizing it for one simple design.

Initial Sketches

Using the base research as a guide, I then mapped the information into an accessible and intuitive visual design. The overarching design parameter was: how can this complex topic be engaging and digestible for a student?

Final Designs

I worked with a team of graphic designers to bring the initial sketches to life, ensuring the designs was creatively sound and visually on-brand.
